Phone sign-in and WhatsApp order updates, in your WooCommerce store.
The Tawked plugin for WooCommerce stores in Saudi Arabia. Customers sign in with a code sent to their phone, confirm their number before cash on delivery, and get order updates on WhatsApp from your own number.
- Phone sign-inBeside the password form on My Account, never instead of it.
- A code before cash on deliveryThe number is proved before the order is placed.
- Order updates on WhatsAppFrom your own number, with your approved templates.
WooCommerce's settings in the WordPress admin, on the Tawked tab and its WhatsApp notifications section: each order status has an approved template with its placeholders mapped to order values, and a button to send a test.
A sign-in and a message, from one plugin.
Tawked makes and checks the code, so WordPress never knows the right code and never stores it. The plugin sends the order update from your number with the template you chose.

Cash on delivery? Prove the number first.
One code before the order proves the number belongs to the customer. It is checked on the server on the classic checkout and in the Checkout block.
When is a code asked for?
- Never
- For every order
- For payment methods you choose, cash on delivery by default
- One code is good for one order, and stays good for a retry when a card is declined.
- A number outside Saudi Arabia? The order is refused by default, or you let it through unverified.
The checkout: the mobile number verified with a code, cash on delivery chosen, then the Place order button.
From installing to the first message.
All of the plugin's settings sit in a Tawked tab inside WooCommerce's settings, in Arabic or English.
Create your application in Tawked
With Verify and Notifications, and connect your store’s WhatsApp number.
Download the Tawked plugin and install it
In your WordPress dashboard: Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin. It needs WordPress 6.6 or newer, WooCommerce 9.0 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer.
Download the plugin Version 1.0.0Paste your application’s key and test the connection
In the Tawked dashboard: your application › API keys.
Pick the statuses and their templates
Then press “Send a test” to see it on your phone.
The plugin's Connection section: the live key, the optional test key and the Test connection button, with the live key ready for WhatsApp.
Guarded against abuse and against draining your balance.
Limits inside the plugin on top of Tawked's own protection, and your key never leaves the server.
A limit per number
One code a minute and three in 15 minutes. Ten wrong codes in an hour stop new codes for that number.
A limit per IP address
20 codes an hour from one address.
A cap for the whole store
20 codes a minute and 200 an hour by default, which you change in the settings.
Staff never sign in by phone
Administrator and staff accounts always sign in with their password, so a phone is never a way into the admin.
The key stays on the server
It shows on no page and never reaches the browser, and the plugin never stores codes in the store’s database.
One message per status
The same order update never goes twice, and when a send fails the plugin tries again.
The plugin is free. You pay only for what is sent.
- Meta bills you directly for WhatsApp messages at its published rates, and Tawked adds nothing on top.
- Prepaid credit, no subscription, no contract.
- A code that fails to send is not charged.
Store owners’ questions
Does the plugin replace passwords?
No. “Sign in with your phone” sits beside the password form on My Account and on the WordPress sign-in page, and signing in with a password stays as it is.
Does it work with the new Checkout block?
Yes. Verification is checked on the server on the classic checkout and in the Checkout block, and the plugin is compatible with High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS).
Who sends the WhatsApp messages?
Your own number, connected to your Tawked application, with your templates approved by Meta. For each order status you pick a template and map its placeholders to order values.
Do customers agree to WhatsApp messages?
Meta expects customers to agree before a business writes to them. So by default the plugin adds an opt-in box to the checkout page and the Checkout block, and WhatsApp updates go only to customers who tick it; a customer who does not tick it gets no message about the order. In the settings you can choose to send them to every customer with a Saudi mobile instead.
What if the customer’s number is outside Saudi Arabia?
Codes and WhatsApp messages go to Saudi mobile numbers only. When checkout asks for a code, such an order is refused by default, and a setting lets it through unverified. A WhatsApp update is skipped, with a note on the order.
Can I try it before my application is approved?
Yes. With the test key, codes reach only the Tawked account owner’s phone, up to 10 test messages, each starting with the [TEST] stamp. WhatsApp messages work with the live key while the application is in review.
Is the plugin in Arabic?
Yes. Its screens are in Arabic and English, and it works right to left.
Where do I get the plugin?
From this page, for free. “Download the plugin” saves a ZIP file of version 1.0.0; in your WordPress dashboard, upload it under Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin, then activate it.
What does it cost?
The plugin is free. 0.09 SAR per delivered code from prepaid credit, and a code that fails to send is not charged. Meta bills you directly for WhatsApp messages at its published rates, and Tawked adds nothing on top. Every new account starts with 10 SAR of free credit.
