Key points

  1. Order templates, ready to submit

    The Tawked console has ready-made utility templates you submit to Meta in one click, among them order_received, shipment_on_the_way and order_completed. Their placeholders have readable names, such as customer_name and order_number, and each template comes in Arabic and English.

  2. One message per status

    Your system sends an Idempotency-Key header with each call, so a retry with the same key gets the first answer back, with no second message and no second fee. The order number in the reference field comes back in the answer and finds the message in the console’s message log. The WooCommerce plugin does all this on its own, with one key per order and status.

  3. Saudi mobile numbers

    The API sends to Saudi mobile numbers only and refuses any other before sending; the WooCommerce plugin skips such a number and leaves a note on the order. Every status change reaches your server by signed webhook, retried up to 5 times.

  4. Notifications for your Salla store

    Tawked Notifications for Salla is awaiting its listing on the Salla App Store, on one plan of 49 SAR a month before VAT, billed by Salla. Alongside it, a Salla store can send today through the API from its own system.

Order notifications from any store or system, through the API

For a store on another platform, or an order system you built yourself.

  1. Connect your store's number.

    Meta's official window opens from the Tawked console, connecting takes about 10 minutes, and the number stays yours.

  2. Get your order templates approved.

    Submit the ready-made templates to Meta, or write your own in the console. Meta reviews every template, which can take up to 24 hours.

  3. Prepare a live API key.

    With the notifications:send scope, because a test key does not send WhatsApp. Before that, try a template on your own phone from the console.

  4. Send at every status.

    When an order changes, your server sends POST /v1/whatsapp/messages with the customer's number, the template name and its values, plus an Idempotency-Key and the order number in reference, and gets 202 back.

  5. Follow the statuses.

    Turn on your application's webhook to receive message.delivered, message.failed and the other statuses, or read any message's status by its id.

How do I send WhatsApp notifications for my Salla store's orders?

Yes. The free Tawked plugin downloads from its page, maps each order status to an approved utility template, and sends in the background without sending twice. It also adds an opt-in box to the checkout page; that is its default setting.

Can the same order message reach a customer twice?

No, as long as your system sends an Idempotency-Key with every call to Tawked's API. Sending again with the same key returns the first answer with an Idempotent-Replayed header, so the customer gets one message and you pay one fee.

Can a customer confirm a cash-on-delivery order with a button in the WhatsApp message?

Not through the API: a customer's reply reaches your team in Tawked Chat but not your system, because Tawked's API sends no webhook for incoming messages.

How much does a WhatsApp order notification cost?

Meta's utility rate for a Saudi number is about 0.0401 SAR (USD 0.0107) as we checked it on October 9, 2026, charged to the payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account. Tawked's fee on top is 0.00 SAR per message today, with no subscription.
