The console's ready-made templates include appointment_reminder, in Arabic and English, with the placeholders customer_name, date and time. It ends by inviting the customer to reply to change the appointment.
A payment reminder is utility, on one condition
It stays utility while it is about a real transaction of the customer's, such as an issued invoice or an instalment due. Add an offer or a discount and Meta treats it as marketing, at the marketing rate. The payment link goes in a button whose ending changes per customer, so it opens their invoice.
Replies reach your team

How to send a reminder from your system
Once your number is connected from the Tawked console, three steps.
Get the reminder template approved.
Submit the ready appointment template to Meta, or write your payment reminder. Meta reviews every template, which can take up to 24 hours.
Let your system send on time.
When the moment you chose comes, your server sends POST /v1/whatsapp/messages with the customer's number, the template name, the date and the time, plus the booking number in reference and an Idempotency-Key so the reminder never goes twice.
Follow replies in Tawked Chat.
Your team replies from the same number and changes the booking in your system, because the API does not pass customer replies to your server. Message statuses, from delivered to read, arrive by signed webhook.
Common questions
Does Tawked send appointment reminders automatically?
Tawked sends a reminder when your system requests it. Your booking or billing system decides when, for example a day before the appointment, then calls Tawked’s API with the customer’s number and the template’s values.
Can a customer change an appointment by replying to the reminder?
Yes. The customer replies to the message and the reply reaches Tawked Chat, where your team answers it. Someone on the team then changes the booking in your system, since the reply does not reach it on its own.
How much does a WhatsApp reminder cost?
Each utility reminder delivered to a Saudi number costs about 0.0401 SAR (USD 0.0107) under Meta's rates, as we checked them on October 9, 2026, charged by Meta to the payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account. Tawked's fee is 0.00 SAR per message today, with no monthly subscription.
Is a payment reminder a marketing message?
No, as long as it is about a real transaction of the customer's, with no offer or discount. A reminder that mixes the payment with a promotion becomes marketing under Meta's template categories, at about 0.2159 SAR for a Saudi number. You write both kinds in the Tawked console.
Do I need the customer’s consent before sending reminders?
Yes. Meta requires a customer’s agreement to receive your messages before you message them on WhatsApp, and accepts it on any channel, at booking for example, as long as it names your business. WhatsApp marketing messages have wider rules, and Tawked skips anyone who turned off your offers inside WhatsApp.
Can a reminder go to a number outside Saudi Arabia?
No. Tawked Notifications sends to Saudi mobile numbers only and refuses any other number before sending, so nothing is charged.
