Common questions
Is this the same as an OTP API?
Yes. Phone verification is the core use case: you send a code to the phone and verify the user entered it.
Which channels are available?
SMS, today. Verification codes over WhatsApp are coming soon, with the same two calls.
What if the code does not arrive?
Ask for a resend: Tawked Verify sends a fresh code on the same id, up to 3 times per verification, each charged like any send. A send the network refuses is refunded at once, and the verification is marked failed. A code the network accepted stays charged even if it never reaches the phone.
Can I use this for passwordless login?
Yes: send a code, verify it, and issue your own session.
How long is a code valid?
Five minutes by default, adjustable between one and fifteen per application.
